Watanabe’s Room

I have photographed nature, particularly insects, in many parts of the world. In this presentation, I introduce the nature of the Daisetsuzan Mountains of Hokkaido, one of Japan’s most representative natural regions; the nature of Bhutan, a remote land in the Himalayas; the nature of Kachin State in Myanmar, once an unexplored region of Southeast Asia; and the nature of mainland China, which may be regarded as the source region of much of the Japanese biota.

Although I do not place special emphasis on photographs of insects in flight, I always try to compose my photographs so that both the subject organism and its natural habitat are included within a single image.
